I don’t know about you but I LOVE a good dessert. It’s the one thing that I just can’t resist. I really have to to have something sweet every day even if it’s just a piece of chocolate. So, if you are like me, you will probably love this guide to the best desserts in Chicago. There are so many crazy dessert photos popping up all over Instagram which are really great to look at and most are also delicious. However, there are so many good desserts in the city that I just think people have maybe haven’t tired, so I made sure to include those as well.

A Girl’s Guide on where to go when you have a sweet tooth in Chicago

The Butter Cake at Mastro’s Steakhouse

You really can’t go to Mastro’s and not get the butter cake. It’s honestly one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. The cake is made mostly of butter and it just melts in your mouth. If you don’t want to do a big steak dinner just grab a table in the bar area and enjoy a glass of wine with your dessert. It’s a perfect way to end a date night.

Mille Feuille from Au Cheval

Of course, Au Cheval is known for their burgers but if you have the room you should really try the mille feuille. We sat at the bar and watched one of the chef’s put this dessert together which is also a treat just to watch.

Chocolate Cake from Portillo’s

Most people that are from Chicago have had the chocolate cake from Portillo’s. And yes, the stories are true, it’s really that delicious. But, I wonder if many people know that the secret ingredient to make it taste so good is that they add mayonnaise.

Cookie’s N Cream Cupcake from Molly’s Cupcakes

Before there was the donut craze there were yummy cupcake places all over the city. Molly’s is still as popular and is known for their center-filled cupcakes. If you go it’s hard to choose but I really like the Cookie’s N Cream.
