I don’t know about you but I LOVE a good dessert. It’s the one thing that I just can’t resist. I really have to to have something sweet every day even if it’s just a piece of chocolate. So, if you are like me, you will probably love this guide to the best desserts in Chicago. There are so many crazy dessert photos popping up all over Instagram which are really great to look at and most are also delicious. However, there are so many good desserts in the city that I just think people have maybe haven’t tired, so I made sure to include those as well.
A Girl’s Guide on where to go when you have a sweet tooth in Chicago
The Butter Cake at Mastro’s Steakhouse
You really can’t go to Mastro’s and not get the butter cake. It’s honestly one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. The cake is made mostly of butter and it just melts in your mouth. If you don’t want to do a big steak dinner just grab a table in the bar area and enjoy a glass of wine with your dessert. It’s a perfect way to end a date night.

Mille Feuille from Au Cheval
Of course, Au Cheval is known for their burgers but if you have the room you should really try the mille feuille. We sat at the bar and watched one of the chef’s put this dessert together which is also a treat just to watch.

Snicker’s Pie at Luxbar
One of the biggest desserts I’ve ever had is the Snicker’s pie at Luxbar. It’s also really delicious, a great dessert to share, and you should really go try it for yourself!

14K Chocolate Cake at RPM Steak
For one of the fanciest desserts in the city, head to RPM Steak for this rich and yummy 14K Cake. You won’t be disappointed!

The Funfetti Cake from Mariano’s
This might sound strange that I would include a cake from a grocery store on this guide but honestly, it’s the best cake! If you are having a night in and you are looking for something sweet, stop by your local Mariano’s and get a piece, you won’t regret it!

Chocolate Cake from Portillo’s
Most people that are from Chicago have had the chocolate cake from Portillo’s. And yes, the stories are true, it’s really that delicious. But, I wonder if many people know that the secret ingredient to make it taste so good is that they add mayonnaise.

Cookie’s N Cream Cupcake from Molly’s Cupcakes
Before there was the donut craze there were yummy cupcake places all over the city. Molly’s is still as popular and is known for their center-filled cupcakes. If you go it’s hard to choose but I really like the Cookie’s N Cream.

Red Velvet Cupcake from Magnolia Bakery
Magnolia Bakery has delicious traditional cupcakes that taste like they are homemade. They are always really light and fluffy and a perfect little treat after shopping or seeing something at one of the theatres around State Street.

Chocolate Chip Brownie from Sweet Mandy B’s
If you are looking for something rich, chocolaty, and delicious you have to go to Sweet Mandy B’s for a brownie. The bakery is adorable too so it’s really worth the trip to stop by!

La Citron Crepe from La Creperie
One of my favorite places to go in my neighborhood is La Creperie. Summer or winter it’s the perfect spot for a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and a delicious crepe.

The Hotter Chocolate at Bombobar
If you are looking for something fun to do and delicious to drink then you have to go to Bombobar to try their amazing hot chocolates and desserts. Fun to eat and to Instagram!

Chocolate Chip Cookies from Summer House Santa Monica
If you haven’t been to Summer House then you should definitely go, it’s has a great atmosphere, I love the vibe, and the food is also really good. As you leave the restaurant you can stop by their mini bakery and get a chocolate chip cookie. Oh, and they now have a location at Terminal 2 at O’hare!

Macaroons from Pierrot Gourmet
Pierrot Gourmet is one of my favorite spots to go for a cup of afternoon tea and a yummy lunch. It’s hard to not save room for the macaroons, they go perfectly with a cup of tea!

Nutella Crepes from the Nutella Bar at Eataly
There are plenty of sweet treats at Eataly but my favorite dessert is the Nutella Crepes from the Nutella Bar. They are just so good and go great with a cup of their Italian coffee.

Churros from La Bodega Del Barrio
Ok, I honestly can say this is the only dessert place on this guide that I haven’t tried yet but look at those churros! La Bodega Del Barrio just recently opened and it’s next on my list to try!

Nutella Pocket from Stan’s Donuts
Ok, I might have a thing for Nutella but I honestly do love the Nutella Pocket from Stan’s. When I’m craving something sweet it’s one of my favorite go-to’s.

Chocolate Almond Croissant from Beatrix
Beatrix is one of my favorite brunch spots and when I’m wanting something sweet for breakfast I love to get a vanilla latte and a chocolate almond croissant, it’s one of my favorite almond croissant in the city.

Cinnamon Rolls from Ann Sather
There’s nothing better on a cold day then going to Ann Sather’s for some hot cinnamon rolls and endless cups of coffee!

Sea Salt Caramel Sundae at Ghirardelli
For something salty and sweet this is the perfect dessert! Plus you can always stop by for a free piece of chocolate!

Cappuccino Crunch from Bobtail Ice Cream
My husband and I love a scoop of cappuccino ice cream! We live close to Bobtail so we will get a scoop to share as we take a walk around the neighborhood.

Caramel Fudge Nut Brownie Chip from Scooter’s Frozen Custard
Scooter’s reminds me of the ice cream shop we used to go to when I was a child. During the summer months, it’s one of the best places to go in Chicago for frozen custard.

Wildberry Lavender and Riesling Poached Pear Sorbet at Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams
For unique ice cream flavors, you must go to Jeni’s. I love the sorbet favors because they are really different and delicious. You really have to try them for yourself!

Key Lime Martini from Joe’s
I love a good martini and key lime martinis are my favorite! Stop by the bar at Joe’s Seafood for a nightcap and a slice of their famous key lime pie.

Lychee Martini at Le Colonial
Le Colonial is a must for their amazing food, it’s one of my favorite restaurants in the city. Their signature cocktails are also really great and I highly suggest getting the lychee martini.

Godiva Chocolate Martini at the Signature Lounge
Enjoy the stunning view of the city from the 96th floor of the Signature Lounge while sipping on their yummy Godiva chocolate martini. A perfect way to end a date night or a trip to Chicago!
