You will probably want to keep reading this post if shopping is literally like therapy to you. Probably one of my favorite things about living in Chicago is all the great shopping. I think I’ve said this before but after living in Chicago for over ten years, I still love shopping on Michigan Avenue. There’s something about strolling around my favorite stores or even just window shopping that honestly relaxes me and puts me in such a good mood. Stopping by one of my favorite coffee shop for a latte or hot chocolate to enjoy while I browse and I’m in heaven.
Although Michigan Avenue, State Street, and the Gold Coast have some of the biggest and most well-known stores in the world. I also really enjoy browsing and shopping at some of Chicago best boutiques. I’ve always dreamed of having my own little store and I love to go and support some of my favorite boutiques whenever I can. Okay, so enough rambling about shopping but definitely keep reading because I’m sharing twelve of my favorite boutiques in Chicago and why I think you should go visit them. Oh, and with the holiday season coming up, you might find some unique gifts for your loved ones or even just something special for yourself.
The 12 Best Boutiques (You Need to Visit) in Chicago
P.O.S.H
Why you should go: You probably past this boutique all the time on State Street and you don’t even know it! This Chicago boutique is definitely a hidden gem. Whether you’re a local or visiting, this is definitely a place you want to go. This cozy antique shop is full of the most adorable dinnerware, barware, cute coffee table books, unique gifts, and even a few Chicago gifts. Everytime you stop by, you will find so many cute finds. After you shop, stop by Pops for Champagne for an afternoon cocktail or next door to Alliance Patisserie for a box of macarons.
613 N. State Street
MARCUS
Why you should go: I love shopping in the Gold Coast. Although I can’t afford some of the luxury, high ends boutiques, it’s fun to window shop and browse. However, MARCUS is actually pretty affordable for the Gold Coast. What’s unique about this boutique is that you will find some great staple and trendy pieces that you won’t see anywhere else. MARCUS also has some really cute gifts and accessories, as well as some cool Chicago designers and brands.
110 E. Delaware Place
CUSP
Why you should go: If you find yourself in Water Tower Place, then you have to stop by CUSP by Neiman Marcus. They mostly have high-end designers but if you are looking for a chic cocktail dress or a winter jacket that everyone doesn’t have, then you will most likely find it here. They also have some really pretty accessories.
835 N. Michigan Avenue
Aritzia
Why you should go: Yes, I know this is more of a chain than a traditional boutique but it does have that boutique vibe. I think everything is this store is so classic and chic. Did you also know that this is a Canadian brand? I used to love looking at all their classic wool coats and gorgeous cashmere sweater whenever I went to NYC. So, I was pretty happy when they opened a location right in the Gold Coast. Oh, and if you go on the right day, they also have some pretty good sales.
923 N. Rush Street
City Scents Floral & Home
Why you should go: Grab a coffee by nearby Dollop and take a peak in this adorable neighborhood flower shop. Every time I walk by I’m drawn to their beautiful flower arrangements, little knickknacks, and pretty flowers that are displayed outside during the summer months, so you can stop by and pick up some gorgeous fresh flowers for your home.
209 E. Ohio Street
Lori’s Shoes
Why you should go: Lori’s Shoes is really popular and well-known to us Chicagoans because they really do have the best shoes and also the best sales, and all the brands you love at great prices. This boutique is also located on Armitage which is an adorable area to walk around, grab a coffee, and do some shopping at a bunch of adorable boutiques. While you are over in the area have lunch a Summer House Santa Monica and make sure you get one of their delicious cookies to take home with you.
824 W. Armitage Avenue
Art Effect
Why you should go: This adorable gift store and clothing boutique is walkable from Lori’s Shoes. At Art Effect you will find cute and unique gifts as well as trendy and affordable clothing in the attached boutique next door. It’s a great place to browse around and explore after brunch on a Saturday or Sunday.
934 W. Armitage Avenue
Alice and Wonder
Why you should go: A few blocks over from Armitage you will find Alice and Wonder. This is a favorite boutique amoungst many Chicago bloggers because their clothing and accessories are not only cute and affordable but it’s a fun spot to Instagram and they also do a lot of fun girly events like happy hours.
956 W. Webster Avenue
Four Sided
Why you should go: Four Sided is similar to Art Effect but I feel like Four Sided a way more cute knick-knacks especially around the holiday. If you are looking for gorgeous Christmas decorations for gifts for someone or even yourself this is the boutique to go explore.
2958 N. Clark Street
Colette Collection
Why you should go: A few blocks down from Four Sided is one of my favorite Chicago boutiques, Colette Collection. Not only is the owner super friendly and fun but she purchases the nicest clothes for her boutique at the most affordable prices. I don’t think this anything is over $80! Plus she always has great sales and fun events.
2858 N. Clark Street
Neighborly
Why you should go: If you are looking for Chicago themed gifts, then this is the boutique to go to. They have the largest collection of all things Chicago and they are huge supporters of all things local. It’s a cute boutique and concept.
2003 W. Montrose Avenue
Brimfield
Why you should go: Brimfield is located up in the Anderson neighborhood and this area is so much fun to explore during the holiday season. Start your day off at Brimfield which can only be described as, as you walk in, everywhere you look you are surrounded by favorite Christmas knick-knacks new and old. Last year the trend was the Santa mugs from the 80’s for things like hot toddy’s and mulled wine. These mugs were everywhere, all over the store, and in different sizes and faces. If you love Christmas and holiday decorating you will find tons of things you will love at this boutique. After shopping at Brimfield you will find plenty of other great antique stores in this neighborhood as well as some great restaurants to enjoy a fun holiday meal.
