Hope everyone is enjoying the New Year so far! Winter is Chicago had actually been pretty easy until today when it was zero degrees when I woke up! Ugh! I guess here we go!
I’m currently cozied up on the couch with my favorite blanket, drinking tea as I write this post. Since the holiday season is officially really over, I thought it would be a good idea to put together my Chicago Winter Bucket List for this year. I like to keep busy during the winter and have some ideas of what I can plan to do with my friends and my hubby on the weekends during the winter months. As I was researching things to do, I just google how many days till Spring and did you know there are only ten weekends until it’s spring in Chicago! That doesn’t sound so bad, right?
Chicago Winter Bucket List for 2019
I created a Chicago Winter Buckelist for 2019 checklist that you can download and save here. But here are some of the things I’m looking forward to doing this winter.
Visit Chicago’s Museums (for Free)
Winter is the perfect time to visit some of Chicago’s museums. There are also some free days coming up which is a great opportunity to visit. Museum of Contemporary Art is still on my list and it’s free to Illinois residents every Tuesday! Here are all the popular museums that are free this winter.

Plan a Chicago Staycation
Even if you are a Chicagoan is still fun to plan a staycation. It gives you a chance to get out of your normal routine and be able to check out some of the great hotels in Chicago along with all their great amenities. It’s also fun to stay downtown and plan a fun dinner, a great brunch, and maybe even see a show. This is definitely on my list for this winter! Use the Hotel Tonight app to get the best deals on hotels.
Eat deep dish pizza at Labriola
Labriola on Michigan Avenue is the place right now to get pizza. I went for the first time a few weeks ago and I can’t wait to go back again with a group of my friends.
Feel all the Summer and Bohemian Vibes at Beatnik
Beatnik has been on my list for a while! I can’t believe I still haven’t been!
Dinner and Dancing at TAO Chicago
This is on my list for my birthday weekend.
Listen to Jazz at Winter Jazz Club
Just before Christmas, I planned a night at the Winter Jazz Club to listen to some holiday classics. It was really so much fun and I plan to definitely go back soon! What is really great about this club is that you can get tickets to the listening room or just listen to music right from the bar.
Afternoon Tea with my Girlfriends
Winter is the perfect time to enjoy afternoon tea. The Langham Hotel is on my list for high tea and RH is always my go to during the winter season. Here are all the best places to go for afternoon tea in Chicago.
Relax in luxury at AIRE Ancient Baths
My husband and I did this last year and I highly recommend it. You can read all about my experience here. I’m definitely going to go again this year.
The Smith Chicago (400 North Clark Street)
I have to also note that The Smith (one of my favorite New York restaurants) is opening in Chicago. They say they hope to open early January or February. I’m keeping a lookout for the opening day and I hope to be one of the first to dine here.
