Whoa! It’s been a minute since I have written a Girl’s Guide and I thought sharing some of my favorite places to cozy up in Chicago would be perfect for right about now. Currently, it’s snowing in Chicago and it has been for 24 hours now. The holidays were really busy for me, and we just got back from a trip to Nashville. (Yes, I will be writing a Girl’s Guide to Nashville soon!) So now that I”m back and we are into the New Year, I’m excited to finally get back into my routine. I’m also still working on my special project that I can’t wait to share with you. So, I’m taking the rest of the month to finish it but I want to fit in a few guides as well.

As much as I have prepared myself for Chicago winters and I finally have found the perfect winter coat that keeps me super warm. I still find it really hard to motivate myself to get out of the house during this time of the year. However, when I do go out, I try and find places that myself and my friends can go to that are super cozy. So, when you start getting stir crazy and you need to get out of the house, here are my favorite places to go and cozy up at during the winter months.

10 Places to Cozy Up With Your Girlfriends this Winter

Wilde Bar and Restaurant

Wilde is one of the most popular restaurants in my neighborhood. It’s a really cute spot with two fireplaces and cozy decor to match. When it’s cold, it’s an easy place for me to walk to. I really enjoy sitting by the fireplace in the library. Whenever I’m at Wilde, I always get either the French onion soup or the tomato soup and grilled cheese. Either one is a perfect meal on a cold day.

location: 3130 North Broadway

The Drawing Room at the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel

Join your friends for afternoon tea or coffee at The Drawing Room. There are plenty of cozy little nooks to hang out in or even work for a few hours. Try and grab a spot by the fire and enjoy a cup of tea.

location: 12 South Michigan Avenue

RL Restaurant

After a day of shopping on Michigan Avenue. I love to plan a cozy lunch at RL restaurant. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Ask for a Kahlua and coffee to warm up. The decor is always cozy and they do have a fireplace in the front. It’s also a great spot for people watching.

location: 115 East Chicago Avenue

The Bar at The Peninsula

Of course, I would mention The Peninsula. If you have been following me then you know this is one of my favorite places in the city. I remember the first time I went to The Bar for drinks. I love The Bar and I’ve been coming here for drinks for years. If you are looking for a special but cozy place to go for a cocktail (yes, it is a little pricey) then The Bar is the place to come. During the winter, I usually order the hot toddy and I’ve always been lucky enough to get a seat right by the fire.

location: 108 East Superior Street

La Creperie

La Creperie is also in my neighborhood in Lakeview. I have also mentioned The Creperie before on GGC as a place to come during the summer because I love their hidden garden patio. However, during the winter, the fire is always on. Plan a wine date with a girlfriend and enjoy a Nutella crepe by the fire.

location2845 North Clark Street

Beacon Tavern

The Dawson owns the Beacon Tavern and I have to say the food is just as good. Beacon Tavern has a great happy hour and it’s also a great place to come for brunch. I love their winter cocktails. On a cold winter weekend, plan a brunch with your girls and ask to sit by the fireplace.

location: 405 Noth Wabash Avenue

DOC Wine Bar

I did a guide during the fall to favorite wine bars all over the city. You can read it that guide here. Many of the wine bars throughout the city are really intimate and cozy. However, I choose DOC Wine Bar to include in this guide because it does have a large fireplace to sit by as you enjoy your flight of wine.

location: 2602 North Clark Street

Firecakes Donuts

The donut craze is all over the city. If you are looking for a sweet treat. Firecakes had yummy donuts and hot chocolate and the Lincoln Park location has a fireplace that you can cozy up by.

location: 2453 North Clark Street

Upstairs at The Gwen

If it’s not zero degrees outside you can head to Upstairs at The Gwen to enjoy their adult winter wonderland. You can sit by numerous fire pits, enjoy spiced wine, and even their curling rink. Just bring a warm coat!

location521 North Rush Street

The Thompson Hotel

Cocktails alongside the fire sounds really perfect. Especially after a day of hanging out and shopping around Michigan Avenue and the Gold Coast. If I’m in the area, I love to stop by the Thompson Hotel for a cocktail. Their bar is really cozy but also chic and you can absolutely enjoy your cocktails or even some small bites in their lobby by the fire.

location: 21 East Bellevue Place

Next on my list!

Along with my favorite places that I mentioned in my guide above, I’m actually adding a few places below that I haven’t been yet. I hoping to try out the following cozy spots (all with fireplaces) this winter. Have you been to any of these? I’ll let you know when I go!

Download and save my checklist so you can go to all these cozy spots this winter.
